Linda Ajambo

Linda is 16 years of age, and in Senior Five. She is praying she will be able to finalize her A Level in the coming year, 2011.

She is a very serious believer, who is trusting in God to pave a way for $200 per semester for her school fees. She was among the best performing students in her school last year, (2009) in their 0 Level examination. When she passed with flying colours, the school promised to offer her a sponsorship for one year in Senior Five. This was a miracle for Linda, because she had no hopes of taking the A Level otherwise.

The Ugandan educational system partially follows the British educational system, in which a national examination is done in Year four of Secondary Education. This is equivalente to graduating from High School in North America. When a student passes this level, known as Uganda Certificate of Education (UCE), the next level is the Advanced level, an equivalent of grades 12 and 1. Linda qualified for one year sponsorship, her year 12 only. She still needs help for year 13, and then for university.

Linda has both parents, but they are facing financial problems. Their earning are too small to fully support their children to higher levels of education like A Level and University. According to them, her education costs too much and they can't afford it.

The family has a small secretarial business, which sells a bit of stationery on the side, but it is not doing well. For this reason Linda does not expect help from home in terms of fees to continue her education.

Linda is the second in the family of five children, and her parents are requesting that she stop her studies so that she can give an opportunity to her last two sisters and brother to study. This has Linda very worried. She wants to continue with her studies and she feels she is capable of excelling in life if only she can get her school fees covered.
